It often seems as though someone has carpeted the forest floor. One of the magical qualities of the rain forest is that there have been no forest fires for a thousand years or so.

The ground is as soft and deep as a mattress. Centuries of decay covered by a carpet of moss has made the land as gentle as it looks.

And the smell... sweet, soft, oxygen rich - pure heaven.
