The Red Dog Saloon
On a sultry and hot the day in the central plains of Washington I pulled off the highway into Coulee City.
I had stopped to photograph the towering grain elevators but it was the Red Dog Saloon that grabbed my attention.
The bike, the barber pole, the neon signs beckoning a cold drink - a classic saloon.
The town residents, wiser than I, sat out the midday heat sipping cold beers and malted milks.
